There is a debate brewing out there about changing the law to presumed consent when it comes to organ donations.
I am personally opposed to this system. It would require the individual to opt out of the donor registry rather than register as a donor.
This is contrary to our lifestyles and most people would not even know that their organs would be subject to donation at death or near death.
What would stop a physician from pulling the "plug" on a dying person in order to gain his or her organs? who would have the decision to impose death prematurely?
Too many laws are imposed on people as it is, without taking away your rights at death.
What we need is more education on organ donations, not another law infringing on an individuals rights and freedoms.
